This month we visit
Portland, Oregon - The City of Roses.
Of all the 50 states, Oregon is one of America's most beautiful
states and yet one of the lesser known one. California has
its beaches, Utah has its mountains but Oregon has them
both.
It is a great starting point for your trip along the west
coast of USA, 3.5 hrs drive to Seattle and just over 6hrs
drive to Vancouver B.C., Canada.
Though it does not feature on many tourist itineraries,
the beauty of this city is not to be missed.Waterfalls,
Snowcapped mountains, breathtaking oceans, parks, museums
Portland has them all.
Below we have featured
some of the Tourist spots of this beautiful city:
Multnomah Falls:
Plummeting 620 feet from its origins on Larch Mountain,
Multnomah Falls is the second highest year-round waterfall
in the nation. Here, all your senses will come alive as
you experience the sights and sounds of these magnificent
falls. At the base of the falls lays historic Multnomah
Falls Lodge. Built in 1925 the lodge provides fine northwest
cuisine with a panoramic view from your table.
Rose Garden:
A true delight for Rose-lovers, this spectacular garden
features many awarding-winning roses. Also grab a bird's
eye view of the Portland city from this hill-top Garden.
Japanese Gardens:
nestled in the scenic hills of Portland is a haven of tranquil
beauty that has been acclaimed as one of the most authentic
Japanese Gardens outside Japan. Designed in 1963 by Professor
Takuma Tono, the Japanese Gardens provide a quiet, peaceful,
year-round respite from the stresses of the outside world.
Pioneer Courthouse
Square: Pioneer Courthouse Square is the heart of downtown
Portland, and is recognized as the city's "living room."
On April 6, 1984, 9,000 citizens inaugurated what has become
one of the most successful public squares in America, receiving
mention in Time Magazine as one of the "ten most notable
design achievements" in the country. Hundreds of events
happen each year at the Square, including the acclaimed
Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony; the annual Festival of Flowers;
Senior Prom; concerts and city celebrations. Many corporations,
organizations, and Portland citizens use the Square as a
unique and remarkable venue to host product rollouts, memorials,
celebrations, political rallies, presidential speeches,
and more. More than 21,000 people pass by the Square each
day, while thousands more visit the Square directly as a
day-trip destination. Pioneer Courthouse Square is truly
the city's largest interactive "billboard" reaching
thousands of people each day!
